Does dog behavior change with age?

I have three 10 year old dogs. They have been crated since puppies when I’m not home. They are all crated in separate kennels in my bedroom. Recently, one has been trying to get out of the crate and has bent a couple of wires in hopes of escape. I started leaving her out of the crate but now she is jumping on my bed and messing up the sheets, blankets and pillows. Last night I was gone for only 2 hours and came home to a torn sheet and comforter. Do you have any idea why her behavior has changed? Thank you in advance for any advice you can give me.

Answer

Kathy, the new behaviors could be due to just old age and forgetting good habits. While they say you can’t teach an old dog new tricks, there could still be hope if you try some simple training techniques to reinforce and establish right from wrong using online dog training courses.
