Winter Hacks for Dogs

This isn’t really a question, more of some ideas I wanted to share with you in hopes it will help others. As we go into the colder months, thought these winter hacks for dogs could be useful for keeping pups warm on a budget!

1. Put a heating pad/blanket in their dog bed or crate. This should be done with supervision as it involves electricity which can be dangerous. You should also add a cushion or blanket on top so the dog is not directly on top of the heat source. This will keep them warm and cozy in the cooler months.
2. Use a moisturizer on their paw pads. Winter weather can cause dryness and cracking in pup’s paws so use an animal-friendly, non-fragrant moisturizer to lubricate their paw pads to prevent uncomfortable cracking which can get infected.
3. Use human socks on pup’s feet around the house. Depending on the size of your dog, you might need to use baby/children’s socks but it’s a great use for old/unmatched socks and a way to clean out your old sock drawer. Be careful if you have hardwoods though as it can cause your dog to slip and slide. You may want to find dog-friendly, non-slip socks to be safe.
