What can you do about a dog who goes absolutely wild at the fence every time someone walks by?

We’ve got a backyard situation on our hands. Our dog is calm and friendly most of the time—but the second a person, squirrel, or (worst of all) another dog dares to pass by the fence, it’s game on. We’re talking nonstop barking, sprinting along the fence line, and full-body lunges like they’ve just been personally insulted.

It’s loud. It’s chaotic. And while the fence is doing its job, it’s starting to feel like this behavior is more than just “being protective.”

Is this something we can actually train out of them? Or is it just one of those things dogs do when they think they run the neighborhood?
