We’ve had dogs that fart before, but our latest two pups rarely fart. Until a recent trip to the mountains! It’s like we came up here to attend Fart Fest 2000. Rudy’s diet has not changed (she’s a black lab mix), but we are in a different climate than normal.
What are things that typically cause gas in dogs that we could be eliminating for testing purposes?
Has her flatulence subsided? My guess is that she got into something while you were in the mountains. If she’s maintained the same diet for her meals, then I’d guess she got some table scraps, causing some GI stuff.
Dogs usually fart because something has caused extra gas in their digestive tract. So, she may have eaten something outside or snuck a piece of your dinner when you were not looking. She may also be stressed with being in a new place, which can also cause some excess gas and farting. You can learn a lot more about why dogs fart, why it smells so bad, and some gas relief tips in this guide. These canine stress relief tips may also help. Good luck!
