Is anyone else’s dog absolutely obsessed with carrots? Like, more than any other snackie? She just can’t get enough of that crunch! Now I’m wondering if there is some sort of carrot ceiling that I shouldn’t hit when feeding her this treat. She has never had any digestive problems (so far) from eating them, and I try to be judicious when tossing out the baby carrots during snack time. How many is too many?
You’re not alone! My dog can’t get enough carrots. It doesn’t help that I eat them for a healthy snack all the time, so he’s always begging. I give him some, but I’m also concerned that too many may hurt his tummy. I have the same question!
@lizbeth I love that your pup enjoys carrots! They are packed full of good stuff—carotenoids, antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, fiber. As these carrots are a treat, the general rule is that any treats should not exceed 10% of a dog’s diet. If you dog is small, I’d say 1-3 carrots per day. Medium-sized, try 5-6. Large dog? A handful should be fine.
