Do you need a recent vet exam for pet insurance?

  I’m still on the fence about getting pet insurance b/c it can be pricy. Do pet insurance companies require a vet physical exam before you can enroll your dog? Are there any other things these companies need to qualify for insurance?

  I just signed my dog up for Pets Best accidents & illness insurance this month, and I did not need to provide any exam documents when enrolling. I believe it varies by insurance company though.
