My mom’s older Collie was just diagnosed with heartworms, and I’m honestly a little worried. Are heartworms fatal if caught late? What’s the best treatment option, especially for a senior dog? And is there anything specific we should be doing to help with her recovery, like diet, activity level, or supplements? I just want to make sure we’re giving her the best shot at getting through this.
