We have a few new neighbors who all have dogs that bark and they feed off each other, when one barks the rest do and it gets my dog anxious when he hears barking and often joins in on the bark fest. It’s so uncomfortable to have this going on, but I don’t want to approach them (not good with confrontation) what should I do?
Even though you’re uncomfortable approaching your neighbor, that’s probably the best move in the long run. If you haven’t met them, this is also a great chance to introduce yourself. Try to stay on friendly terms, and you might find they have the same issue. There’s things you can do to help reduce your dog’s anxiety, and we have a guides on dog barking and what to do, as well as how to calm a dog down that’s barking.
Awesome thanks for the tips, it’s multiple dogs and neighbors and they’ve all met, except for one. We explained our dog’s anxiety and introduced the dogs (even though theirs have anxiety too) but it’s getting better as we all learn to manage staggering walks and going out at different times as not to stir them up! Luckily we’re all (very friendly) dog people (except for the one who we all haven’t met yet) so we are understanding and empathetic of each other’s doggy barking situation. Will check out the articles, those are super helpful thank you!
