Why do dogs go crazy for squeaky toys?

I’ve noticed that my dog absolutely loses his mind whenever he gets a squeaky toy. He’ll chomp on it nonstop, tail wagging like crazy, and if I try to take it away, he looks at me like I’ve stolen his life’s purpose. I get that dogs like toys, but what is it about the squeak that drives them wild? Is it some kind of instinct thing, or do they just enjoy the sound? Would love to hear what you guys think!
