Luxury Dog Items: The Ultimate Symbol Of A Society Gone Mad?
When you purchase through links on our site, we may earn a commission. Here’s how it works.
I was in Manhattan a few weeks ago and walked by a woman whose French Bulldog was proudly sporting a Louis Vuitton-branded dog harness. I follow designer trends, so I immediately recognized this fashion icon’s signature motif. I can’t say that I’m entirely surprised, but it was still a bit shocking. Are luxury dog items a major market?
At a time when many are tightening their belts over rising grocery costs and utility bills (let alone the plummeting stock market), some people are out there splurging on high-end designer accessories for their dogs that cost more than a month’s rent. Apparently, Fido needs to look trendy, too, because a basic harness just won’t do.
What’s next? At this point, I’m expecting to see a dog riding around in a gold-plated stroller, sipping champagne, and swiping left on potential new playmates on a doggy dating app. Who knew we would live in a world where some dogs are living better than us?

The Luxury Pet Market Is Booming
Once I got back to my hotel room, I did some digging online and found that it’s not just Louis Vuitton — a lot of other iconic designers carry luxury dog accessories. And then you have newer luxury pet brands that exclusively sell high-priced dog and cat accessories. I even found a Reddit thread where many owners were discussing the pros and cons of Hermès vs Prada vs Tiffany vs Louis Vuitton dog collars. Seriously?
Yes, this is a very real and growing trend. In fact, according to a report by Market.us, the global luxury pet accessories market, valued at $4 billion in 2023, is expected to reach $6.7 billion by 2033, growing at a CAGR (compound annual growth rate) of 5.3%.
I’m trying to grapple with why I have such negative feelings about this extravagance. I suspect it’s a bit of envy that I’ll never have that kind of wealth, but it’s more from a moral stance. Why spend that kind of money on your furry friend’s accessories?
I’ve spent countless hours over the last decade scouring the web to find the best products for Canine Journal’s audience of dog lovers. Pricing is always a major consideration with every product I review. Clearly, I’m not considering extravagant luxury dog supplies when I choose the best pet gear for our everyday readers. However, I wanted to share some examples of the most popular and frivolous luxury products I’ve found. It’s an eye-opening array of outlandish opulence!

Want Trendy But More Affordable Luxury Dog Items?
Jump down to my separate section below if you’re looking for trendy but much more affordable luxury dog items. These reasonably priced luxury dog brands are definitely worth considering. My team and I have done our research.
Luxury Dog Collars, Harnesses & Leashes
Many hot designer brands — Gucci, Prada, Dior, Saint Laurent, Versace, Burberry, Moncler, Tiffany & Co., etc. — sell luxury dog collars, leashes, and harnesses so owners can walk with their dogs in style. Many make an immediate statement with each designer’s signature motif, so everyone will know you’ve got a fashionista pup. After all, that’s the point, right?
Posh Puppy Boutique’s La Jeune Tulipe Dog Collar

Okay, this is the most outlandish product I’ve seen, so I had to include it here. Want your pooch to look like the princess she is? Outfit your prima donna in this collar of 1.52-carat marquise-cut diamonds for a mere $250,000. According to Posh Puppy Boutique‘s website, “La Jeune Tulipe is the crown jewel of the canine kingdom.” Yeah, we get it. The company’s New York-based jewelers customize each collar for a custom fit and design to your particular taste.
Tip: Posh Puppy Boutique also sells much more reasonably priced dog collars, apparel, and tons of other types of gear. They have some really cute stuff from more affordable, trendy designers, like Susan Lanci Designs, Wooflink, and Marlee, so you may want to check out their online store.
Louis Vuitton Dog Harness
Of course, I have to add the Louis Vuitton Dog Harness I saw on the streets of Manhattan. Coming in at a reasonable $1,060, it features a Monogram canvas, natural cowhide leather, and gold-toned hardware. At this price, it should at least be gold-plated.
Prada Re-Nylon Pet Leash
What luxury designer list would be complete without a nod to Prada? From its exclusive pet shop of collars, harnesses, and more, this Prada Re-Nylon Pet Leash stands out for its sleek, bedazzled design. For $950, you not only get a sturdy, black nylon leash but also a small crystal-studded pouch decorated with Prada’s enamel triangle logo. Score!
Pagerie Dórro Collar
For the sophisticated furry man in your life, you can invest in the rugged and sporty-looking Dórro Collar ($380) from the hip, pet-centric boutique Pagerie. This trendy Los Angeles-based brand is hitting the canine fashion world by storm with its well-crafted luxury dog items that are priced lower than the major high-end designers.
Luxury Dog Apparel
In addition to statement dog walking gear, many people express their fashion prowess with luxury dog clothes. Yes, dog raincoats, winter coats, and other outdoor protective wear can be practical, but these expensive dog clothes are over the top!
Gucci Pet GG Coat
At $930, the Gucci Pet GG Coat boasts this designer’s signature color combination of beige and ebony with its interlocking G design — a sure bet to be instantly recognized. You can also adorn your fashion-conscious pup with GG-embossed sweaters, a carrier bag, collars, and more.
Moncler Poldo Couture Padded Dog Vest
Moncler is best known for its luxury outerwear, which has become a symbol of both high-fashion and functional winter wear. For people, their down coats top out at $2,500 or more. However, this Moncler Poldo Dog Couture collection vest, crafted from “iconic” nylon laqué, is a steal at $620.
Ralph Lauren Cable-Knit Cashmere Dog Sweater
Head over to Ralph Lauren’s Pup Shop if you want a casual everyday sweater for your furry friend. Polo Ralph Lauren’s signature cable-knit construction defines this $225 luxe dog sweater, which is crafted with soft cashmere. Only the best fabrics will do for our four-legged friends.
Pucci Marmo-Print Dog Raincoat
For rainy days, Italian designer Pucci carries this Marmo-Print Dog Raincoat for $715. This stylish statement piece is sure to turn heads with its vibrant colors and marbled print. Why not complete the look with a matching Marmo-Print dog collar and lead at $480 each?
Luxury Dog Beds
When it comes to over-the-top dog accessories, it’s not just about having your dog make a fashion statement in public. It seems like it’s also about impressing your guests in your home, too. Why else would you spend this much on a dog bed?
Hermès Patapouf Dog Bed
The Hermès Patapouf Dog Bed (at a mere $5,450) doesn’t carry an obvious motif, but the highly polished leather exterior emotes sophisticated, high-end quality. As the website says, “This piece showcases the saddle-making expertise which is emblematic of Hermès.” What more can you say about a dog bed at this price?
Haute House Dior Pet Bed
This Dior Pet Bed is a glamorous addition to any penthouse. Upholstered in velvet and adorned with crystal nail heads, it’s handcrafted of only the finest hardwoods and imported materials. For $4,000, your pup even gets a velvet dog bone pillow to rest his weary head after a long afternoon at the doggy spa (yes, that’s a thing, too).
Versace I ♡ Baroque Pet Bed
At a more “reasonable” luxury price point, the Versace I ♡ Baroque Pet Bed is perfect for your small dog to nap in opulence. At $950, it boasts their iconic Medusa motif on the exterior with a repeating “Versace” pattern on the interior cushion. Rest assured, you can remove the interior cushion for gentle hand cleaning.
Luxury Dog Houses
Okay, I can understand wanting to invest in a high-quality outdoor dog house to ensure your furry friend is protected against the elements. But for starters, if your pup is your family member, you’re not going to leave them outside all the time. So, why is there a need for a luxury dog house? Yes, it’s a thing, even on Wayfair.

PijuanDesignWorkshop On Etsy
I always go to Etsy to find unique products at affordable prices. But I stumbled upon this luxury L.A.-based dog house designer, PijuanDesignWorkshop, when searching for extravagant dog items. I’ll have to say, the designs are incredibly impressive but super expensive. Check out this Modern Dog House, which is offered for $3,650 and draws its inspiration from the mid-century modern architecture in Southern California.

Why Not Get The Most Expensive Breed While You’re At It?
