How do you adjust your dog’s exercise routine in spring? We’re getting out more now that the weather’s better—longer walks, more running—but I’m trying to figure out how to balance that with proper recovery days. Do you taper up slowly? Add in new activities? Would love to hear how others approach the seasonal transition.
I totally feel you. Spring rolls around, and suddenly, my dog’s bouncing off the walls with all the extra energy! I try to ease into it by gradually increasing the length of our walks over a week or two, especially if we’ve been more low-key during the winter. We’ll add some light jogging or fetch sessions, but I will alternate with slower-paced days so she doesn’t get too sore or overstimulated.
I also like mixing it up with new activities like trail walks, a little agility stuff in the backyard, or even sniffer walks. It keeps things interesting without pushing too hard.
