I’ve noticed that my dog has developed a new hobby of eating snow! Is this okay for him to do? I’ve been keeping a close eye on where he’s eating snow to make sure it’s clean (avoiding areas near roads or sidewalks where there might be de-icing chemicals). But I’m wondering if I should be doing more to prevent it? Any tips or thoughts appreciated, thanks so much!

My Cavalier does this too! He loves eating ice so it’s not surprising he likes eating snow too! I try not to let him do it often though and of course monitor to make sure it’s clean. No advice other than that! I hope that helps…

My dog LOVES to eat snow. She really likes catching snowballs and slurping on fresh snow. I only let her do this when the snow is fresh and only ever in my own backyard. That way, I know that it is safe and that there is nothing gross or dangerous underneath or mixed in.
