Does your dog suffer from urination incontinence or excitement? It’s a common problem for dogs. To help with the mess, you can check out some of the best dog diapers on the market.

We’ve reviewed disposable and reusable doggie diapers as well, so if you’re looking for a more eco-friendly alternative we’ve gotcha covered. Are you looking for a diaper for your female dog who is in heat? These diapers can work for her as well. So many uses but also so many choices! How do you pick?

Why Is Your Dog Having Trouble Holding It?

There are many reasons your dog may be having trouble holding its pee but most reports come with aging or illness. However there are other reason your dog may need a diaper too, especially when females are in heat. From hormone imbalance and urinary tract disorders to prostate disfunction and diabetes, the reasons are numerous.

If you see a sudden change in your dogs inability to control its urine, you should probably schedule a visit to the vet to get an examination of the issue and make sure it is not a symptom of something more serious.

Dog Diapers: Male Vs Female

When choosing a doggie diaper, you’ll want to take into consideration the style. Most female diapers work for males but it is not the case that all male diapers work for females. Female diapers have an underwear style to them, similar to a baby’s diaper. Whereas a male’s diaper is typically in the shape of a long rectangle that wraps from their private area and fastens on their mid to low back.

Trying To Potty Train?

These diapers can also be used to help with potty training but don’t lean on them too much or you will regret it. A dog (or kid) who has too many props, will not learn the proper method of potty training. We suggest you try using them on long car rides with a puppy who is still learning or an older dog who is having trouble holding it.

If your dog has an accident, you will want to use a UV flashlight to locate the exact spot and then clean up with a top-ranked odor cleaning product.

But if you’re at home, we suggest using a dog toilet. What’s a dog toilet? You can learn all about dog toilets here in our article. Also with the dog toilet, don’t lean on it too much or it may become a crutch too and end up preventing your dog from becoming house-trained.

That recommended disposable diaper for male dogs brand is a disaster. It doesn’t stay in place, and it bunches in the important area in such a way that when the dog pees he pees outside the diaper. I hate it when bloggers recommend products just because they get commission on them.

I have a Belgian Malinois that chews through her diaper and destroys it costing us lots of money in the long run. She has destroyed 3 or 4 since she started her heat cycles. What is the best indestructible diaper for that? Is there such a thing? Thank you.

the link you give above for the medium size ‘luxury’ washable dog diapers is to an amazon seller that is clearly ripping people off, the item is priced there (and in your above listing) at more than $65, which is totally out of line for the pricing based on other sizes. a better link would be to the main amazon page for this product, where the medium size is priced in line with other sizes, and is not from some random seller. (honestly, u guys should have caught this when writing this page)

I must be doing something wrong, which is understandable since I have zero experience with diapers. I’ve tried these “best” brands and they fall off rather quickly. I have two handicapped dogs we need help!

Thanks for this webpage. We have an aging/male/diabetic bichon, Willy, who potties outdoors during the day but at night/darkness, is content to pee inside (he’s got two favorite places, each of which provides him a target). We’ve begun putting diapers on him (we love Vets+Best male disposable wraps) but sometimes by morning, he has peed so much that the diaper is sloppy-wet and has soaked through and (this part is off-putting) he’s gotten our top blanket wet (he’s got a history of sleeping with us). Yech.

Family says, somewhat seriously, that we need to get up during the night to check him more often. What, interrupt my sleep every 2 hours? A baby will cry with a wet diaper, a dog doesn’t do anything.

So, thoughts/suggestions on how to keep excessive overnight peering contained in his wrap? Is there a better one to use? Thanks in advance for input.

My elderly pup is on a medication which is liquid based as well as a liquid based diet due to her heart condition and as a result she has to go do her business more often than usual. I work at home so its easy to take her out when she needs to go but often time has accidents and/or will go more frequently than I am able to accommodate so will definitely try these out and hopefully she’ll adjust easily (while avoiding making a mess in my house!)
